Olympus Mons Challenge
A MASSIVE THANK YOU! To all climbers who took part in our Olympus Mons Challenge, in support of Brighter Future GWH Swindon, our local hospital charity.
The event was a great success!
NO... We didn't complete the challenge of collectively climbing the height of Olympus Mons. But, let's be clear, that's a massive challenge up to ~25,000 metres to climb.
So why was the event a success? Well firstly we had 28 Climbers from our community come together, to take on this massive challenge. Plus and it's important to mention the support of their friends and family.
We were also joined by a team from the Swindon mountaineering club and new college Swindon.We climbed a total of 1,135 Climbs, collectively... and reaching a height equal to 9,470 metres. (Smashing the height of Everest at 8,849 metres).
From the event entry fees (£5pp), and additional donations made, we raised £195. Plus we all got to hang out at Rockstar Climbing, which is awesome and not to mention we got lots of climbs in.
So, I think we all done an amazing Job! Well done and thank you everyone.
We're aiming to do this event again next year, and with an absolute aim of reaching 25,000 metres. So we need as many people as possible taking part. But in the meantime we have a new challenge...THE INDOOR 7 SUMMITS CHALLENGE, round 1 on the 7th of April 2026 at Rockstar Climbing, Swindon.
